Using tools to support the certification process of safety-critical systems

Tuesday, November 27th, 9:00 to 11:30 at DTU

About the workshop:

Developing safety-related pressure transmitters or any other component or system, requires considerations concerning the tools that are applied / used during the safety life-cycle. There are many questions to be answered like; can we qualify the tools ourselves? Is it required to have certified tools? What is the added value of tool qualification packages? How to handle new versions of a tool, etc.?

The workshop will give an overview of the requirements from the standard related to tools and tool qualification and how we handled these at Danfoss Industrial Automation for the tools applied in the software life-cycle.

About the interest group:

Embedded systems are increasingly used in safety-critical application areas, such as medical, railway, military, aerospace and factory systems, where a failure can endanger human life or the environment. Safety-critical embedded systems are becoming more complex, and they use software and hardware to implement part of their functions.

This is the reason why the national innovation network InfinIT (www.InfinIT.dk) has created an interest group on safety-critical systems. Participation in the Safety-Critical Systems Interest Group (SCSIG) is free of charge and is open to all the interested parties. The meeting is co-organized with IEEE Denmark Section, Chapter CO16--Embedded Systems.
